Ryan Gosling is adding two more professions to his checklist (actor/musician/professional fight breaker-upper wasn’t enough) as he prepares to direct his very first movie, “How to Catch a Monster” — which he wrote himself. Christina Hendricks will star in the fantasy film.
According to a press release, the movie features Hendricks as a single mother who finds herself in a “macabre and dark fantasy underworld while her teenage son discovers a secret road leading to an underwater town.” The eerie plot is not entirely surprising, considering this comes from the man behind the creepy band Dead Man’s Bones.
Gosling was all business in the press release announcing his new project, which will begin shooting in spring of 2013, saying, “I am very appreciative to Marc Platt, Adam Siegel
and Bold Films for being so supportive and I look forward to making
this film with all of them.”
Producer Platt says he has a lot of faith in Gosling. “We are thrilled to be producing Ryan
Gosling’s debut as a writer & director and continue our
collaboration which began on ‘Drive.’ He has composed a beautifully
haunting script and has a very clear vision of how he will bring it to
life. His ability to draw audiences into his world as an actor will
serve him well as a filmmaker.”
Looks like America’s boyfriend/unofficial sexiest man alive has no plans on giving up his title any time soon.
