– Lifetime has picked up “Army Wives” for a seventh season. The pickup comes after Season 6, which ended Sept. 9, averaged a solid 3.2 million viewers for the cable channel. Season 7 will run for 13 episodes and premiere sometime next year. [Lifetime]

Diane Kruger has taken her first TV series role in FX’s pilot “The Bridge.” The drama, an adaptation of a Danish/Swedish series, focuses on two detectives chasing a serial killer who’s working on both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border. Kruger (“Inglourious Basterds”) will play the American lead, an El Paso, Texas, homicide detective. [FX]

– Speaking of FX, the cable channel has also ordered a pilot based on filmmaker Guillermo del Toro‘s vampire novel trilogy “The Strain.” Del Toro and co-author Chuck Hogan will write a pilot script together and executive produce with Carlton Cuse of “Lost”; del Toro will also direct the pilot. – “White Collar” star Tim DeKay will guest-star on ABC’s “Body of Proof” this season. He’ll play the father of a teenage girl who dies in the hospital — with evidence pointing to some kind of demonic possession as the cause. [TVLine]

– “Breaking Bad” regular Dean Norris will get to show off his comedy chops later this fall when he guest-stars on NBC’s “Whitney.” He’ll be playing Alex’s (Chris D’Elia) father in the episode. [EW]
