The New Jersey Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control fined the cantina $15,000 for serving alcohol to the “visibly intoxicated” Cortese June 10.
While MTV cameras rolled, the Guidette fell down in the bar, ran outside with a drink and into traffic, danced in the intersection and was arrested by Seaside Heights Police for disorderly conduct.
Michael Halfacre, the ABC Division’s director, said, “This settlement is a cautionary tale for licensees who might think ignoring the law for the sake of air time is good for business. By turning a blind eye to the mayhem that can be associated with reality television, you are risking your livelihood. That is, without a doubt, bad for business.”
If Spicy Cantina violates any other state alcohol laws during the next two years, its liquor license could be suspended for 10 days.
