Singer Katy Perry has had a crazy year — she and husband Russell Brand split up in late 2011, she produced and starred in her own 3D behind-the scenes concert documentary, she’s toured all over the world on her “California Dreams” tour, and her breakup anthem “Part of Me” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
And now Billboard has announced that Perry will take home the Woman of the Year Award at the 2012 Billboard Women in Music event on Nov. 30 in New York City.
Billboard’s editorial director Bill Werde calls Perry “one of the most exciting and inspiring artists in the industry.”
“Katy Perry broke into the industry not even five years ago, and has already accomplished more than most artists can hope for in an entire career,” Werde says in a statement (via Reuters).
Past recipients of the award include Taylor Swift, Beyonce and Fergie.
