FOX scored a ratings win Thursday night with “The X Factor” and “Glee,” while NBC’s comedy lineup got off to a pretty soft start. “The Office” came in below its season finale in May, and “Up All Night” got trounced by a “Big Bang Theory” rerun on CBS.

FOX delivered 8.6 million viewers and a 5.2 rating/8 share in households to lead Thursday’s race. CBS (7.4 million, 4.9/8) was a solid second despite airing a full repeat lineup. NBC (4.04 million, 2.7/4) managed to edge ABC (3.98 million, 2.6/4) for third place. The CW scored 1.3 million viewers and a 0.9/1, although those numbers are somewhat inflated because of an NFL pre-emption in New York.

In the adults 18-49 demographic, FOX’s 3.1 rating was more than a point better than second-place CBS’ 1.8. NBC posted a 1.5 to finish third. ABC drew a 1.2 in the demo and The CW a 0.5.
