Bill O’Reilly has a surprisingly amount of sympathy for some of Hollywood’s most controversial stars.
“The O’Reilly Factor” host visited Katie Couric on her new talk show “Katie” yesterday as part of his promotion for his new book, “Killing Kennedy.” Couric asked O’Reilly to play the “name game” and offer up his thoughts on some of the most buzzworthy names around. Among them were Lindsay Lohan, Kim Kardashian and Honey Boo Boo.
“I feel bad for her,” O’Reilly says of Lohan. “[She] is a Long Island girl. I think she’s got screwed up parents, you know; I hope she straightens it out.”
Though he didn’t have anything to say about Kardashian other than she “seems like an energetic young woman,” O’Reilly did take a strong stance on Honey Boo Boo. “I don’t like to see kids in the public eye at that age,” he says.
O’Reilly also had kind words to say about Jon Stewart, who he often debates with about politics on his own show and “The Daily Show.”
“He likes to hang out with me. I would go on his show. He was on my show and we have a very good back and forth because he’s quick, he’s smart and he’s honest,” O’Reilly admits. “He’s not mean-spirited. A lot of these pundits are very mean-spirited; they want to hurt you if they disagree with you, and I don’t like that. We kind of developed this rapport.”
Stephen Colbert doesn’t get the same sort of treatment, though.
“I think he owes me a major check, mocking me every night,” O’Reilly quips.
