Britney Spears’ former self-described manager Sam Lutfi tells jurors Wednesday (Oct. 24) that the singer’s father, Jamie, attacked him and threatened his life.
Lutfi is suing Britney for breech of contract, Jamie for physical assault, and Britney’s mother, Lynne, for defamation.
During his testimony, Lutfi describes Britney in the days leading up to her meltdown four years ago. He says she was fearful of her father and left her Beverly Hills home on Jan. 28, 2008 when she heard he was coming.
“Jamie came barging into the house. He chased me around the kitchen island, spitting and shouting, accusing me that I had hurt his daughter and I had better leave or he was going to beat the hell out of me,” Lutfi says, per the Associated Press.
He goes on to say that Jamie was escorted out by security but returned the next day.
“He cornered me in the kitchen, punched me in the solar plexus and threatened to kill me. … It hurt,” Lutfi says. “I ran to the game room in the house and locked myself in.”
An attorney for the Spears family said in opening statements that the Jamie never assaulted Lutfi and only touched his chest.
Lutfi’s attorney, Joseph Schleimer, also read excerpts from Lynne’s book, as Lutfi denied the singer’s mother’s accusations.
“Were you in complete control of Britney’s life?” Schleimer asks.
“No,” Lutfi says.
“Did you attempt to keep Britney’s family away?” the attorney asks.
“To the contrary, sir,” Lutfi says.
He also denies cutting wires to phone lines, hiding Britney’s cellphones and drugging the singer.
