The BBC posted a “deleted scene” from the epic “Doctor Who” midseason finale “The Angels Take Manhattan” (a.k.a. the farewell to The Doctor’s companions Amy Pond and Rory Williams) last week. Apologies we didn’t highlight it sooner, but if you’re a “Doctor Who” fan you’ll definitely want to watch (or watch again). Trust us.
The sequence, titled “P.S.,” was intended to be included in the eventual DVD release but never actually filmed, due to “actor availability” issues. So the video opens with a short bit from previous episode “The Power of Three,” which guest starred Mark Williams as Rory’s father Brian, and then segues into an animated storyboard version of what would have been an absolutely lovely epilogue to the events in “Angels.”
The dialogue was written by “Who” scribe Chris Chibnall and is read in voiceover by Rory Williams himself, Arthur Darvill. It explains more about what happened to Amy and Rory after their fateful final encounter with the Weeping Angels, gives Brian a chance to react to the news, and features an emotional whopper of a plot twist. All of this just when we thought we were coming to terms with losing the Ponds…
Warning: If “Doctor Who” has ever made you get a little teary-eyed, you may want to have a box of kleenex handy while you watch this:
