The Jonas Brothers visited Ryan Seacrest’s radio show to talk about their new album, and Seacrest brought up Miley’s claim that their new song “Wedding Bells” is about her. “I don’t know who else is getting married so I feel like that’s pretty blatant,” she says. “You can’t ever hate on someone for writing something you’ve been through… you kind of get a fair warning when you date an artist and someone that’s a writer.”
We thought she might’ve been a little presumptuous, but Nick says Miley is “absolutely right” about the song. “Beyond romance, and if you’re years removed from that, as you carry into a friendship with somebody, which is where it’s at with her and I,” Nick says, “it’s just about being open and honest about the fact that your life is
what you have to write about sometimes and pull from that life
As far as his relationship with Miley now, Nick says, “Everyone’s cool.”
So let’s talk about “Wedding Bells.” The song is sung from the perspective of a young man who has had a drink before he approaches an ex girlfriend — who reveals she’s now engaged. You know, kind of like Miley is, to Liam Hemsworth.
The lyrics go something like this: “She says ‘Can you keep a secret, a ceremony set for June,
I know it’s a rush, but I just love him so much,
I hope that you can meet him soon.'”
And then there’s the part with the awkward longing: “I don’t wanna love if it’s not you,
I don’t wanna hear the wedding bells prove that we can’t try one last time.
But I don’t wanna hear the wedding bells chime, fall asleep and wake me up, I’m trying to see the light.”
Is Nick still in love with Miley!? We’re just going to watch this video of their duet and think about it for a while. Oh, unrequited popstar love.
