One of our “One Tree Hill” faves has landed another comedy guest spot. Danneel Ackles, who played mean-girl-with-a-heart-of-gold (as in gold digger) Rachel on the long-running CW series is set to appear on ABC’s upcoming midseason comedy “How To Live With Your Parents (For The Rest Of Your Life).”
The series follows Sarah Chalke‘s character, single working mom Polly, as she’s forced to move back home with her parents after her divorce. It’s further complicated by the fact that her parents (played by Elizabeth Perkins and Brad Garrett) are extremely eccentric, free-love, sexually liberated types… and Polly is determined to raise her daughter in a more structured way.
Ackles plays Olivia, who Polly befriends and decides to set up with Julian (Jon Dore)… Polly’s ex-husband. Awkward! In the first episode, Julian is described as an “unemployed gambler with a pasty-white beer belly” — so he’s not exactly a catch. Ackles has filmed one episode so far, and her character may recur later in the season.
It’s something of a reunion, as Ackles and Chalke played sisters on “How I Met Your Mother” in the Season 4 wedding episode, when Chalke’s character decided to take over her sister’s wedding plans after the engagement was called off at the last minute. Things didn’t exactly end well.
“How To Live With Your Parents (For The Rest Of Your Life)” is expected to begin airing in January on ABC.
