Get ready for more of FOX’s Tuesday night comedies “The Mindy Project” and “Ben and Kate” in your life, because the network has picked up both of the first-year sitcoms for full seasons. That means nine additional episodes of “Mindy,” and six of “Ben and Kate.”
Says FOX entertainment chairman Kevin Reilly in a statement, “‘Ben and Kate’ and ‘The Mindy Project’ have everything we want to stand for in comedy: smart writing, hugely appealing casts and comedy that feels contemporary and real — which is why we’re confident they will continue to build on what is already an appointment comedy night for young, influential audiences on Tuesdays.”
Combined with “New Girl” and “Raising Hope,” “Mindy” and “Ben and Kate” give FOX a strong comedy lineup on Tuesday nights.
The two comedies are the second round of Fall 2012’s brand new shows to get picked up for full seasons. NBC has already ordered back nines for “Go On,” “The New Normal” and “Revolution.” CBS and ABC have yet to make any announcements.
