After a tearful tribute to Shawn, the dance pro concluded his interview by saying, “To win the All-Star season would be a perfect ending.”
Ending to … “Dancing With the Stars”? Sadly, all signs point to yes.
In fact, Derek revealed to us on the ballroom after Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani were declared the All-Star winners, “That was a question that was asked to me: How did it feel that this was probably your last time on the dance floor?”
“That question struck a chord in me,” Derek shared. “I didn’t realize how–I was shocked at how I reacted. I was sort of overwhelmed and could barely speak … because of all the memories of the show, and all the people we’ve met and how amazing this family is. It was overwhelming.
“I’ll always want to be a part of the show in some way,” he continued, “and who knows — but we’ll see.”
Derek shied away from declaring definitively that he’d just danced his last dance on “DWTS.”
“We’ll see,” he repeated. “I can’t say right now.”
“You know, there’s so much I want to do,” concluded Derek, who seems very much to be looking at a future outside of “Dancing With the Stars.” “It’s just about the next chapter.
“Ten seasons of this — I’ve won three times, and the times I haven’t won I’ve been more than proud. It’s been extraordinary.
“I feel like it’s conquered — and now on to the next.”
Does it sound to you like Derek’s saying his final farewell? Will “Dancing” be the same without him?
