Dolly Parton is a big supporter of LGBT rights, but it’s not because she’s a lesbian herself. Long rumored to have a romantic relationship with her best friend, Judy Ogle, the country music legend says it’s just not true.
“Judy and I have been best friends since we were like in the third and fourth grade,” Parton tells ABC’s “Nightline” in an interview airing Monday (Nov. 26). “We still just have a great friendship and relationship and I love her as much as I love anybody in the whole world, but we’re not romantically involved.”
But the gay rumors did bond Parton with another famous lady who’s also dealt with her fair share of tabloid headlines about her sexuality — Oprah Winfrey.
“Like Gayle [King], her friend, Judy, my friend, they just think that you just can’t be that close to somebody,” Parton says.
For the record, Parton has been married to her husband, Carl Dean, for 46 years.
