Barack Obama appears to have swept Election Day 2012, winning both the electoral vote and the popular vote.
The Idaho Statesman reports Obama held on to a narrow margin overnight, leading the popular vote by 2.6 million over GOP candidate Mitt Romney.
In a press conference, Chris Christie, Republican governor of New Jersey and staunch Romney supporter, says of his party’s candidate, “He didn’t get enough votes.”
Christie was an outspoken critic of Obama prior to Superstorm Sandy, which devastated his state. The governor publicly praised Obama’s handling of the natural disaster, leading to criticism from many in the GOP camp.
