“Spartacus” is about to enter its final season, but Starz is not yet ready to leave its most successful original series behind.
The cable channel and “Spartacus” executive producer Robert Tapert have had some early talks about a spinoff series that would center on Julius Caesar, Deadline reports. The character (played by Todd Lasance) will be introduced in “Spartacus: War of the Damned,” which premieres Jan. 25.
The show would follow Caesar in the years before he becomes emperor of Rome. His life before then was filled with political intrigue and military conquests that could be fodder for the blood-happy visual style of “Spartacus.”
Talks about a spinoff are still in the very early stages, so we’re far from hearing a definitive yes or no on the idea going forward.
