With only eight contestants performing this week, “The Voice” is growing more competitive — and tonight, two singers were sent home. Cody Belew and Dez Duran were voted out of the competition. Since Dez was Christina Aguilera’s last remaining contestant, she’s officially the first coach knocked out of the running. Belew was on Team Cee-Lo Green, but with Nicholas David and Trevin Hunte still in the competition, Cee-Lo still has a shot at the prize.
Along with Dez and Cody, Trevin and Terry McDermott (from Blake Shelton’s team) were in the bottom four.
As his final performance on the show, Dez teamed up with Cassadee Pope to sing “I Hate That I Love You” by Rihanna and Ne-Yo. On Monday, he sang “U Smile” by Justin Bieber, but unfortunately, the legions of Beliebers didn’t show up to buy his song on iTunes.
Cody went out on a high note after performing “The Rhythm of Love” with Melanie Martinez, Nicholas David, and Terry McDermott. Cody’s performance of Queen’s “Somebody to Love” on Monday meant a lot to him, because he says Freddie Mercury is his hero.
Do you think Cody and Dez deserved to go home?
