It’s only the third week of live competition shows on “The X Factor” but an unexpected frontrunner has clearly emerged: country singing family man Tate Stevens.
Stevens has one of the heart-tugging-est backstories of all this year’s contestants — he put ambitions for a singing career on hold to support his family by working a construction job, and this could be his last chance at living his dreams — and his genre of choice has proven reliably popular on singing competitions.
There’s still several weeks to go, but Stevens placed #1 when “X Factor” revealed the public vote rankings last week. This week he performed Shania Twain’s “From This Moment On” and earned universal raves from the judges. “I would be happy to write you a check for $5 million,” Simon Cowell declared, in a nod to the show’s multi-million record contract prize.
What do you think Tate’s chances are? Is he your “X Factor” fave or are you rooting for another act to take it all?
