Mark Zuckerberg is feeling generous this holiday season. The Facebook mogul has announced a donation of 18 million Facebook shares, which equals around $500 million dollars.
Fox News reports the shares goes to the Silicon Valley Community Foundation, which Zuckerberg will work with to locate education and health programs as recipients of the funds.
Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, previously donated Facebook shares to a New Jersey program called Startup: Education. In a Facebook post, Zuckerberg writes of the program, “I’m really proud of the work we’ve done there, helping leaders like Governor Chris Christie and Mayor Cory Booker sign the most progressive teachers contract in our country, opening four new district high schools, 11 new charter schools and more.”
Looks like the multi-billionaire behind the biggest social network in the world has decided to use some of his powers for good. Consider this “Liked.”
