Reports might claim that the fight that led to Lindsay Lohan’s arrest was over The Wanted singer Max George, but his fellow British boy bander, Jay McGuiness, says he doesn’t think that’s the case. Still, he claims that the band wanted to show their support for Lohan following the fight considering the fact she seems to be a fan of them.
“I’m a little bit of an artist, so I got the old Sharpie out,” McGuiness tells MTV News of the “Free Lindsay” T-shirt he wore during a show after Lohan’s arrest. “And, yeah, after a small scuffle that went down, I felt very sorry for her. I wanted to cheer her up and I think she said she liked it, right?”
He adds, “Yeah, it worked. She got out [of jail], so the campaign worked.”
According to McGuiness, who was there the night of the fight, the incident didn’t go down quite like it was reported in the media — or at least, it didn’t based on what he remembers. The Wanted singer calls the fight “a bit of a blur,” and describes it as “some sort of scuffle with a fortune teller.”
“It was very odd,” he says. “We actually carried on partying after that. It was reported that [the fight] was about Max, but I don’t think it actually was. But [Lohan] was a total sweetheart on the night, so our experience is quite positive.”
