Kristen Wiig and Will Ferrell gave Tina Fey and Amy Poehler a run for their money when the former “Saturday Night Live” stars took to the stage to present the award for Best Lead Actress in a Comedy or Musical at the 70th Golden Globe Awards. In a skit that would have done “SNL” proud, the two comedians pretended the award by “covering” for the fact that they hadn’t seen any of the movies nominated.
Going solely off the titles of the movies, Ferrell and Wiig praised Emily Blunt on her fishing skills and the fact she shot in Yemen for “Salmon Fishing in the Yemen.” Judy Dench was praised for being a newcomer — “Where did she come from?” — in “The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel”, where she apparently used to be a police officer but then starred in her “first-ever movie.” Then there’s “Merry-el Streep” who was said to be a “sassy sheriff” in a movie about a person named “Hope Springs.”
That’s not even counting the grin Jennifer Lawrence had on her face after Ferrell referred to her as “J-Law,” the actress who collected silver in “Silver Linings Playbook.” Lastly there was Maggie Smith, who was nominated for “Quartet,” a movie where “no one knows what it is.”
Can these two present every award ever? Oh, and for the record, J-Law won.
