This week, Notre Dame player Manti Te’o sat down for an extensive interview with ESPN about his nonexistent online girlfriend, Lennay Kekua — but the interview was not put on video. Te’o and his parents have agreed to give Katie Couric the first televised interview since the scandal broke.
On Sunday, ABC announced that Brian and Ottilia Te’o will join their son on “Katie,” speaking out on-camera for the first time since it was revealed that Te’o’s highly-publicized relationship with Lennay Kekua, who he said died of leukemia, was a lie. Lennay Kekua did not die, because she never existed.
The interview will air on “Katie” on Thursday, January 24. Beforehand, preview clips will be available exclusively through various ABC News platforms.
