Fighting is afoot in the English Premier League. Mario Balotelli, a striker for Manchester City, got into an altercation Thursday (Jan. 3) with Man City manager Roberto Mancini during training, reports Sports Illustrated.
Reportedly, Balotelli made a tackle on a teammate and Mancini began shouting at the striker, then grabbed him by the shirt before they could be separated, passersby reported. The training session could be seen from public walkways.
Balotelli has been the source for much frustration on Mancini’s part lately, as Balotelli’s performance this past season was not up to his usual standards, plus the striker incurred a series of disciplinary violations — though Mancini has told the media that Balotelli will not be sold during the January transfer window.
Man City has not commented on Thursday’s altercation.
