Given the doom-and-gloom rain in Los Angeles on Sunday, we’re not particularly surprised that the trend on the Screen Actors Guild Awards red carpet leaned toward navy and black dresses — but some of our favorite dresses were actually the bolder, cheery colors!
Jessica Chastain may have evoked memories of Jessica Rabbit, but that’s
definitely not a bad thing. Her bold red gown and stunning diamonds
spoke for themselves, so she went for a more relaxed hairstyle. “I
didn’t want to go too diva with the hair!” she laughed.
Amanda Seyfried‘s navy Zac Posen gown was simple and perfectly fitted. Her youthful choice of a long, art-deco pendant elevated the look, as did her always-enviable waves.
“The Vampire Diaries” star Nina Dobrev may not have been nominated, but she didn’t let that hold her back from making a bold statement! In a coral Ellie Saab gown with short sleeves and a side-swept bang, Dobrev had us all girl-crushing.
We have to give props to “Cougar Down” fave Busy Philipps, who
didn’t hide her baby bump under endless fabric or complicated drapery —
she embraced the belly! Her jewelry was eye-catching, too, and she
rocked her bright lipstick.
Julie Bowen took a risk with a leather gown with strong, embellished shoulders. Her relaxed ponytail and subdued accessories toned down the look.
