The American Society of Cinematographers Awards had arguably more star power than the Grammy Awards last night, when the ultimate A-lister Angelina Jolie hit the red carpet at the Hollywood and Highland Center, where the Oscars are held.
Across town, Jennifer Lopez was doing her best Jolie impression on the Grammy red carpet, but ACS had Angie in the flesh. You would think it was Jolie who had a conservative dress code to follow, as she opted for a very un-Grammy-like — dare we say it was granny-like? — gray Atelier Versace tea-length dress paired with reptile peep-toe pumps.
Jolie has been flying under the radar as of late, making her last major red carpet appearance nearly a year ago at the 2012 Academy Awards. That appearance was memorable, of course, for the pose that spawned a thousand internet memes. It’s not likely Angie’s drab dress this go ’round will start much of a Twitter commotion.
Inside the Grand Ballroom, Jolie presented Dean Semler with the ASC Lifetime Achievement Award. Semler was the director of photography for 2011’s “In the Land of Blood and Honey,” which marked Angie’s directorial debut.
