A “Game of Thrones” star is heading from Westeros to the world of mutants. Peter Dinklage, a man best known to fans as Tyrion Lannister, has been cast in an undisclosed role in the new movie “X-Men: Days of Future Past.”
“Officially like to welcome #PeterDinklage from #GameOfThrones to #XMEN #DaysofFuturePast Very very excited!” director Bryan Singer tweeted.
Dinklage is a rare new actor to join the cast of the film. Thus far the cast of the movie includes returning “X-Men: First Class” actors James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender and Nicholas Hoult, as well as original actors Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page and Shawn Ashmore.
“Days of Future Past,” based on the early-’80s comic book story, will alternate between a 20th century world featuring the “First Class” cast and a nightmare version of the early 21st century featuring the older versions of Xavier and Magneto. It’s unclear what role Dinklage will play, but he is a fan-favorite for the mutant dwarf Puck.
Dinklage is no stranger to the big screen. Before his Emmy-winning turn in “Game of Thrones,” he was best known for movies like “Death at a Funeral,”, “The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian,” “Elf” and “The Station Agent.” He also played an arc as Marlowe Sawyer on “Nip/Tuck.”
