CBS’ summer series “Under the Dome” is putting Mike Vogel in charge of the mysteriously encased town in Maine.
The former “Pan Am” star will play Army veteran Dale “Barbie” Barbara in the show, which is based on Stephen King‘s novel and is scheduled to premiere June 24. Dale is attempting to get out of the small town of Chester’s Mill, Maine, when a dome suddenly appears and shuts off the entire town from contact with the outside world.
In the book, the federal government appoints him to run things inside the dome, which doesn’t sit well with some of the locals.
Vogel joins Natalie Martinez, Alex Koch and Colin Ford in the cast. Brian K. Vaughan (“Lost”) is writing the pilot script and is executive producing with King and Steven Spielberg, among others.
In addition to “Pan Am,” Vogel’s credits include “The Help,” “Cloverfield” and “Miami Medical.” He’ll also be seen in A&E’s “Bates Motel” this spring.
