“X Factor” executive producers Rob Wade and Andrew Llinares spoke with the press Tuesday (Feb. 26) about the upcoming third season, the auditions for which kick off Wednesday, March 6 in Los Angeles.
Unfortunately, there did not divulge any details about the new judge or any hosting changes.
“We don’t know what we’re doing yet. We’re speaking to a few people. The judges are an incredibly important part of the show … you’ll have to kind of ‘watch this space’ on the judges, I’m afraid,” says Llinares.
“We’re looking at the whole show — the host, the judges, the contestants,” adds Wade. “It’s a little bit early for us to say [about a new host or judge]. The focus for us right now are these auditions, which start really soon. At the end of the day, the stars of this show are the contestants.”
The EPs do say that they’re going to take the best elements of the first season, the best elements of the second season and add to that to make the best show they can. As for the contestants, they’re looking for “a jewel.”
“What’s incredibly exciting for us when we go into these auditions is you don’t know what to expect,” says Wade. “You always hope you’re going to find something amazing … a lot of that is down to luck.”
“The X Factor” returns in fall 2013 to FOX.
