Beyonce is giving fans a special treat with the release of new track “Bow Down/I Been On,” recorded during the sessions for her upcoming fifth solo album. It’s the first new music the pop superstar has released since her 2011 album “Four.”
The rap-tinged track was produced by Hit-Boy (“N****s in Paris”) and openly references Beyonce balancing her personal and professional sides (“I took some time to live my life, don’t think I’m just his little wife”). The grittier sound may surprise her fans, not to mention how little of Beyonce’s much-loved voice is actually heard on the song.
It’s hard to say if Beyonce will release an entire album with a similar sound — or if this track will even make it on the final album — but it’s intriguing to hear her branching out during the recording process.
