As the trailers for “Game of Thrones” Season 3 have teased, Oona Chaplin‘s character Talisa Maegyr is going to be kissing her new husband, Richard Madden‘s Robb Stark quite often. In fact, the trailers show them doing a bit more than just kissing, leading one to assume these two newlyweds will get a bit of a honeymoon period in the middle of war-torn Westeros.
“Okay, there was some kissing, there was some nakedness involved, which is… I’ll leave that to the imagination,” Chaplin told Zap2it on the “Game of Thrones” Season 3 premiere red carpet. “There is definitely a little bit of a really wonderful romantic streak that we get to have amidst the blood and guts and mucus and boobs and god knows what else. Mud. Brains. Everything.”
As for whether Talisa will get to act as Robb’s queen in Season 3, Chaplin responded by hilariously bursting out, “Queen of the North, b**ches! Yes, all the way.”
“I’m definitely his wife for all intents and purposes, which is great for me because I get to kiss [Madden’s] face more often,” she added. “I’m semi in love with him. I think he already knows. It’s quite embarrassing. He’s like, ‘Get off me, woman.'”
Talisa and Robb have the only love story on “Game of Thrones” that hasn’t been tainted by political gain, murder or incest so far, and Chaplin said that’s why she loves their relationship so much. “It’s so pure,” she said. “I think the audience will really root for the couple even though it has its consequences.”
In case you need a bit of a refresher, Robb’s mother Catelyn Stark had made a deal with Walder Frey to marry a daughter of House Frey in exchange for allowing Robb’s army to cross the Twins rivers and attack the Lannisters. Robb broke that contract by secretly marrying Talisa, and Chaplin said that fans should expect to see some ripple effects because of that.
“You do not mess with the Freys. That man [Walder] is very disgusting. He’s horrible,” she teased. “I’m going to leave that to sort of wait and see a little bit [how that turns out]. It has a really interesting dynamic, the whole story. [Showrunners] Dan [Weiss] and David [Benioff] created such a wonderful line for us to travel on, a wonderful path, and it’s full of nuance, which is lovely.”
She added, “[Robb and Talisa have] just a really lovely, romantic, solid love story that you want to get behind and you want to work out, that’s the main thing. Then just you wait. You’ll all be so miserable!”
“Game of Thrones” returns to HBO on March 31 at 9 p.m. ET.
