Robert Todd Harrell, bassist for the band 3 Doors Down, was charged with vehicular homicide last weekend after he struck a pickup truck, sending it down an embankment and killing the driver, Paul Howard Shoulders Jr. He admitted to drinking and taking prescription drugs at the time of the accident.
Now the AP reports that Harrell has entered a drug treatment facility after he was bonded out of jail this week, according to his lawyer, Ed Ryan.
“He was released on bond and immediately went and checked himself into treatment,” says Ryan. He adds that Harrell went voluntarily — the treatment was not court ordered.
In addition to the vehicular homcide charge, Harrell also faces charges of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, possession of contraband and violation
of the implied consent law.
