Some big casting news for “American Horror Story: Coven,” the third season of the popular FX horror drama. Creator Ryan Murphy tweets, “Thrilled to announce Oscar nominee Gabourey Sidibe is joining the cast of ‘American Horror Story: Coven.'”
There are no other details offered, but as we already know, Sidibe will be joining “AHS” newcomer Kathy Bates, as well as returning cast members Taissa Farmiga, Frances Conroy, Evan Peters, Lily Rabe, Sarah Paulson and Jessica Lange. We also know the witchy season will be filming, at least in part, in New Orleans.
Sidibe is fresh off four season on “The Big C,” Showtime’s drama about cancer starring Laura Linney. We’ve enjoyed her work on that show quite a bit — in fact, if you’d like to catch the end of it, Season 4 of “The Big C”premieres Monday (April 29) on Showtime.
Gabby was also very good in “Precious,” for which she earned the aforementioned Oscar nomination. So we’re excited to welcome her to the “AHS” family.
What say you, “AHS” fans?
