“Buckwild” star Shain Gandee has died at age 21. The MTV reality personality was found dead in a vehicle in his hometown of Sissonville, W. Va., along with the bodies of two others.
Shain, along with his 48-year-old uncle David Gandee, had been missing for 31 hours. It is unknown whether David is also one of the deceased.
According to TMZ, Shain and David were last seen drinking at a bar at 3 a.m. on Easter Sunday morning, when they told friends they had plans to go four-wheeling. Their family reported them missing when they didn’t turn up on Sunday.
“We are shocked and saddened by the terrible news about Shain Gandee, and those involved in this tragic incident. We are waiting for more information but at this time, our main concern is for the Gandee family and their friends,” MTV says in a statement. “Our thoughts and prayers are with them. Shain had a magnetic personality, with a passion for life that touched everyone he met and we will miss him dearly.”
MTV’s “Buckwild” is a reality show following several young people in Sissonville. The show, described as a “redneck ‘Jersey Shore,'” has come under fire for encouraging underage drinking and troublemaking.
