For six years, country star Faith Hill has belted out the theme song for “Sunday Night Football,” set to the tune of “I Hate Myself For Loving You,” but with football lyrics. Now the popular fall sports program will have to find a new singer to kick off its broadcast.
The singer tweets Monday (April 15), “Amazing 2 have been part of SNF – an honor. I’ve just let everyone there know it’s time 2 let someone else rock the open. … .Difficult decision. Kinda emotional. Love all u guys at SNF – I’ll b watching!!!”
Fred Gaudelli, lead producer at “SNF,” responded, “Great love and appreciation to @FaithHill for six great years of rocking the SNF open.”
He also says in a statement, “We will always be grateful for her performances and friendship. We wish Faith nothing but continued success.”
Who do you think should replace her? Should it be another country diva, like Carrie Underwood? A mega pop superstar, like Beyonce? And what about the song? Does this mean a new theme song is in the works?
