The American Society of Plastic Surgeons has released its list of the statistics for plastic surgery procedures in the United States in 2012.
The popular surgeries of years passed remained at the top of the list. A boob job is still the top cosmetic plastic surgery across the board, with 286,000 procedures performed in 2012, though that is down seven percent from 2011. Coming in at no. 2 is a nose job, at just under 250,000 surgeries performed.
Eyelid surgery, liposuction and facelifts round out the Top 5. Female patients account for a staggering 91 percent of all cosmetic procedures — a whopping 12.8 million total procedures versus just 1.3 million for the men. In total, $11 billion was spent on cosmetic procedures in 2012.
But a new surgery is surging up the charts — a brachioplasty, which is a surgery that involves liposuction on the upper arms and removing excess skin from the back of the arm.
The society says in a statement that women are “paying closer attention to the arms of female celebrities.” First Lady Michelle Obama‘s upper arms were tops on the list of the society’s survery, followed by actresses Jennifer Aniston and Demi Moore and talk show host Kelly Ripa.
So, just tell your doctor you want Kate Middleton’s nose and the First Lady’s arms — and what else? Do you envy a certain part of any other famous woman?
