Some parents threaten to disown their children if they chose to get a tattoo, but not Barack Obama. No, Obama’s tattoo plan when it comes to his daughters is simple: if they opt to get inked, he and wife Michelle Obama will get the same design.
“Michelle and I have used the strategy when it comes to things like tattoos — what we’ve said to the girls is, ‘If you guys ever decide you’re going to get a tattoo, then mommy and me will get the same exact tattoo in the same place. And we’ll go on YouTube and show it off as a family tattoo,” Obama tells “Today.” “And our thinking is that might dissuade them from thinking that somehow that’s a good way to rebel.”
This is just one of the many ways Obama says he tries to show Sasha and Malia he’s still in the know. He admits he takes their music suggestions seriously, which is why he invited musicians like Justin Timberlake and Alabama Shakes to play at the White House. Of course, Obama’s tattoo plan could totally backfire if his daughters do try to rebel regardless of his threat. They could totally go get a floral lower back tattoo just out of spite, and then he’d have to carry through on his side of the bargain.
