Paris Jackson has been spending a lot of time recently with her mom, Debbie Rowe, whom she had not seen for several years prior.
Earlier this month, the two were spotted celebrating Jackson’s 15th birthday at Ahi Sushi in Studio City, Calif, reports Entertainment Tonight. Rowe tells ET the two went shopping and had some quality mother-daughter time.
Rowe was married to pop singer Michael Jackson for three years in the late 1990s, which produced two children — Paris and older brother Prince Michael Jackson Jr. In the divorce, Rowe gave Jackson sole custody of the children and, for the most part, stayed out of their lives.
Now, with the impending wrongful death suit between the Jackson family and AEG Live, People reports that Rowe is getting to know her daughter, who is the one that reached out. Michael Jackson’s mother, Katherine, is supportive of Paris having a relationship with her mom.
“Paris has been going through a lot of teenage angst and feels a little
bit unloved. So about three months ago Paris reached
out to her mother and told her she wanted to establish a relationship
with her. Debbie was open to it, and Katherine Jackson is supportive of
the developing relationship,” a source tells People.
The source adds that brother Prince is not as exuberant about spending time with his mother, citing “anger issues.” “He feels like she abandoned him years ago,” says the source.
