Potentially good news, “Psych” fans. In addition to the eight-episode Season 8 that USA already announced for everyone’s favorite psychic detective, the network has now ordered five additional scripts.
Deadline reports that the five extra scripts have been ordered as part of a possible back-half to the season. The show typically splits its 16-episode seasons into two parts, though Season 7 is airing all of its episodes at once (minus the musical episode, which will air as a special two-hour event sometime after Season 7 has finished its run).
If 13 episodes are produced for Season 8, we would have to think they would be split as well, though nothing has been announced and there’s no guarantee the five extra scripts will be made into episodes.
The website is also saying that Maggie Lawson, who has been cast in a pilot for ABC, will be available to do “up to five episodes” of Season 8 if her pilot is picked up as a series. There is no mention of where that information came from, and we aren’t sure what that would mean in terms of storylines.
There is no announcement yet as to the premiere of Season 8. What do you think, “Psych”-Os?
