“Good Morning America” anchor Robin Roberts, who recently returned to “GMA” after a medical leave of absence for a bone marrow transplant in treating Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS), took to another stage Monday morning (April 1) — the “Live with Kelly and Michael” set, to fill in for the vacationing Kelly Ripa.
Roberts entered with host Michael Strahan to thunderous applause from the live studio audience.
“When I was on my medical leave, I would watch you and Kelly and I would laugh. Laughter is the best medicine … it’s amazing,” says Robin.
You could come back any time you want. I’m pretty sure if you called [producer] Michael Gelman and said, ‘Michael, I really feel like doing the show,’ he would kick me off,” cracks Strahan.
They went on to talk about their Easter weekend plans, plus sports over the weekend. And of course, the Kevin Ware injury — but his surgery was successful, thank goodness.
Later, the two welcomed Laurence Fishburne, star of NBC’s new drama “Hannibal,” and Stana Katic of “Castle,” which celebrates its 100th episode this week.
