Brad Pitt is spilling the beans on his drug-addled past in the June/July issue of Esquire magazine. The “World War Z” star describes a darker time in his life, which overlapped his marriage to Jennifer Aniston.
“For a long time I thought I did too much damage — drug damage,” says Pitt. “I was a bit of a drifter. A guy who felt he grew up in something of a vacuum and wanted to see things, wanted to be inspired.”
Brad says he squandered a lot of time and opportunities in his younger days. “I spent years f***ing off,” he reveals. “But then I got burnt out and felt that I was wasting my opportunity. … It was an epiphany. … It was a feeling of, ‘Get up.’ Because otherwise, what’s the point?”
The A-list actor says his life has changed for the better by having such a large brood with longtime live-in girlfriend, Angelina Jolie, whom he recent called “heroic” for her double mastectomy announcement.
“I always thought that if I wanted to do a family, I wanted to do it big,” the father of six explains. “I wanted there to be chaos in the house. … There’s constant chatter in our house, whether it’s giggling or screaming or crying or banging. I love it.” Pitt also says he hates leaving the kids behind to stay in hotels, but cherishes getting a chance to read the newspaper.
