“After two and a half years, we have decided to end our marriage. The friendship and love which brought us together remains strong, and we will continue to support each other in our careers and personal lives.
We are hopeful that people will be respectful of our privacy as we face this emotional and challenging time for our family,” says the couple in a statement.
The two were married in October 2010 after only being engaged a few weeks, though the two were friends for a long time before anything romantic was happening. They have no children together, but Bowersox has a 4-year-old son, Tony, from a previous relationship.
Bowersox will be able to keep busy in the wake of her divorce — this summer she’s playing the titular role in “Always…Patsy Cline” on Broadway.
