From the folks who brought you “Parks and Recreation,” the trailer for FOX’s new fall comedy, “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” is here. “Men of a Certain Age’s” Andre Braugher plays the straight man against one of the more promising comedic casts on the Fall TV grid.
Andy Samberg (“Saturday Night Live”) plays Jake Peralta, and Terry Crews (“The Newsroom,” “Are We There Yet?”), Melissa Fumero (“One Life to Live”), Joe Lo Truglio (“Burning Love,” “Reno 911”) and Chelsea Peretti (“Kroll Show,” “Parks and Recreation”) round out the talent list.
It appears the premise of the show can be boiled down to a line delivered’ by Crews’ character, Terry Jefford, to the new police captain at Precinct 99, Capt. Holt (Braugher). “Jacob Peralta is my best detective,” says Crews. “The only puzzle he hasn’t solved is how to grow up.” This is evidenced by Peralta’s refusal to wear a tie around his neck, a secret Speedo that becomes not-so-secret, and heavy flirtation at a crime scene reenactment.
With this cast, it’s easy to believe there will be some cameos by comedian’s comedians throughout the season. And Fred Armisen’s appearance in the trailer suggests Samberg’s “SNL” home will be a ripe poaching ground for guest stars.
Michael Schur (“Parks and Recreation,” “The Office”) and Daniel J. Goor (“Parks and Recreation,” “Late Night with Conan O’Brien”) are Executive Producers.
