Olivia Sprauer, a 26-year-old former Florida teacher, was fired over a bikini photo she posed for during a modeling shoot. Though she wore the same outfit that most women wear to beaches across the country, Martin County High School forced her to resign when the image was brought to the principal’s attention.
“I felt like it would have been nice for my students to finish out the year with me. They trusted me and they made me happy so that aspect of it was sad,” she tells Huffington Post. “I don’t make pornography. I don’t open my legs on camera. I take swimsuit glamour style photography.”
Though the picture in question does not show Sprauer — who models under the name “Victoria James” — showing an inappropriate amount of skin, it does seem like it’s something she’s open to. “I am more than comfortable shooting TASTEFUL nudes for the right projects,” she writes on her Model Mayhem page. Her listed genres of interest include swimwear, lingerie, fetish and erotic.
According to Sprauer, she saw this forced resignation coming. She started teaching in 2011, but knew she wanted to attend graduate school at the end of the 2013 school year so she risked posing for the photos back in February.
“Lots of teachers get fired or asked to resign for the same things I did,” she says. “I knew I didn’t want to come back next year and I knew I wanted to go to grad school so I decided if I made it to the end of the year I would be happy.”
A spokesperson for Martin County School District only confirms that Sprauer left the high school over a “personnel matter.” Sprauer isn’t the only teacher with what was deemed as an unsavory past who is not allowed to teach. Porn star Stacie Halas was denied a return to the classroom earlier this year.
