Meet Helen Kim, the “old lady” of the “Big Brother 15” house at the ripe old age of 37. She tells Zap2it that she plans to stay under the radar and make friends, because this show is all about likability.
“This show is very much like me working in political campaigns and working in politics … politics is all about likability. As far as game strategy goes, I’m going to start off a little bit on the softer end. I have a very outgoing personality, I don’t want to be the center of attention right away,” says Helen.
“My plan is to throw a couple HOHs in the beginning, but not look terrible. Be middle-of-the-road, a little bit above average. I definitely would like to try my best at winning those POVs becuase I think that’s the best way to curry favors.”
Interesting. Gunning for Power of Vetoes might be a great way to go.
As far as an alliance goes, Helen says she’s looking for someone who is dissimilar to herself, to throw the other players off.
“Anyone that has a personality that is what I would call opposite of mine might be a good strategy to align with. If they’re a little off-the-wall — I’m more reserved, more conservative. People might not think the two of us might gel well together and that way the alliance can stay under wraps. I’m going to look for people that people wouldn’t think I would be friends with,” says Helen.
She adds, “I have no problem being a third wheel to a strong couple. If there is a strong showmance going on and they’re strong players, there’s no way I can’t work that one to my advantage.”
Sneaky. We like it.
“It is a social game, however, I’m going to have to watch myself in that,” Helen continues. “There’s a lot of downtime to talk and talk and talk and if you’re kind of a quiet person, I’m going to want to make up for you and I’m really going to have to make sure that I don’t offend anyone, or say too much. Just dial myself back.”
Looking towards the end of the game, Helen says she’s going to try to play a clean game, but that doesn’t mean you never deceive anyone.
“I think you can play a clean game. Now, clean means — how clean? Stretching of the truth to me is clean. Exaggeration is clean. Manipulation is clean,’ says Helen.
“I don’t think you need to go right out and tell a lie, but you can get around the lie by stretching the truth. … If you’re given the chance of a lifetime, you need to play this game. This is the 15th season, we know how this show works.”
