Country couple Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert are both up for CMT Music Awards Wednesday night (June 5), and one might think they have a little friendly competition going on. But when asked which of the pair expects to take home a trophy, Shelton claims it really doesn’t matter who among them wins.
“People when they walk in our house, they’ll see some awards on the shelf,” says Blake, “but they never really walk over and read them.” Blake goes on to explain that when visitors notice a Grammy Award on display that belongs to Miranda, he claims it’s actually his Grammy.
“I’ll do the same thing with these CMT Awards,” Blake says. “As long as it’s on the shelf, and people don’t actually read the plaque, that’s mine.”
Blake is nominated for Male Video of the Year and his wife Miranda is nominated for Video of the Year, Female Video of the Year and CMT Performance of the Year. Who knows? Maybe it will be a Shelton-Lambert sweep.
The 2013 CMT Music Awards air at 8:00 p.m. Eastern/Pacific on CMT.
