Vicki Gunvalson blames her role on “The Real Housewives of Orange County” for her split from husband Donn Gunvalson. “I definitely feel doing a reality show is having a deal with the devil,” Vicki says on the 100th episode of the Bravo’s original “Housewives.”
“Donn said, ‘Look at all these reality TV stars that are losing their marriages over this,'” Vicki reveals. “He goes, ‘I’ll be damned if we’re gonna be one of them.’ And I said, ‘Honey we’re never gonna be one of them.’ Seven years in, we were one of them.”
Vicki has become awfully full of herself since having her face rearranged — Wait, who are we kidding? She’s been full of herself since Season 1 — and says, “Without me, there wouldn’t be a ‘Real Housewives’ franchise.” And while taking credit for the show, she also takes some credit for her divorce.
“I blame myself a lot about it,” Vicki says. “The fact that I became more confident in myself, that I could support myself on my own. Or that, you know, ‘I don’t need you anymore; I got this.’ However, Vicki wants viewers to know the split wasn’t just about her being a jerk and divorcing Donn. “He’s a great guy,” she says. “But he wasn’t a good husband.”
