HBO’s pilot “The Leftovers” has added to its already impressive cast with “Private Practice” star Amy Brenneman the latest to join the project.
“The Leftovers,” an adaptation of Tom Perrotta‘s novel written by Perrotta and Damon Lindelof (“Lost,” “Star Trek Into Darkness”), follows the people who remain in a town after a Rapture-like event takes many of their neighbors and loved ones. Brenneman will play Laurie, the wife of the police chief (Justin Theroux), who has abandoned her former life and joined a cult, TV Guide reports. Meade will play a high-school student who is seemingly fine with her world being upended overnight.
The Carver twins, according to Deadline, will play friends of the Garveys’ daughter. The cast also includes Liv Tyler, Christopher Eccleston and Michael Gaston.
Peter Berg is directing “The Leftovers.” There’s no word on when production will begin.
