Somewhere, Joel McHale and the writing staff for “The Soup” are throwing a little party — “The Wendy Williams Show” has been renewed.
Debmar-Mercury announced Wednesday (June 5) that Wendy Williams’ nationally syndicated talk show has been renewed for it sixth, seventh and eighth seasons, which will keep the show on the airwaves through 2017.
“‘The Wendy Williams Show’ has as much momentum as any show on our air right now, both qualitatively and quantitatively,” says senior VP of programming for the FOX Television Stations Frank Cicha.
“Over the last few years, it’s evolved into the ideal lead-out to our morning news blocks. Like our news, the show delivers a day/date immediacy that serves as a blueprint for where we want to be the rest of the day.”
The press release also details that host Wendy Williams will star as Matron Mama Morton in “Chicago” on Broadway for seven weeks starting June 25. That definitely sounds like something we should get out to NYC to see for ourselves.
