When Syfy’s upcoming series “Helix” introduces itself to the Comic-Con throng on Friday (July 19), the show’s makers will be able to tell the crowd about their new leading man.
Billy Campbell (“The Killing,” “The 4400”) will play a pathologist with the Centers for Disease Control in the series, Deadline reports. Campbell’s character, Dr. Alan Farragut, is investigating a possible disease outbreak and discovers his brother — who had an affair with Farragut’s wife — may be infected.
Campbell most recently starred in National Geographic’s “Killing Lincoln” and “Delirium,” a FOX pilot that wasn’t ordered to series in the spring.
“Helix” was written by Cameron Porsandeh and is executive produced by Ron Moore (“Battlestar Galactica”), Lynda Obst (“Interstellar,” “Sleepless in Seattle”) and Steven Maeda (“CSI: Miami,” “The X-Files”), who will serve as showrunner. The series is slated to premiere in early 2014; its Comic-Con panel is scheduled for 11:45 a.m. PT Friday in Room 6A.
