According to Deadline, Depp is in final discussions with Walt Disney Studios to star in an “Alice In Wonderland” sequel as part of a multi-year first look deal with the studio. However, instead of Tim Burton directing the project, “The Muppets'” James Bobin will instead.
Though Depp’s Mad Hatter wasn’t the central character in “Alice In Wonderland,” he was a much bigger draw than leading lady Mia Wasikowska. It’s not a surprise that Depp is the first one to get locked down to the sequel, though it remains to be seen who else will return. He’ll also be reprising his role as Jack Sparrow in the previously announced “Pirates of the Caribbean 5,” due out in Sumer 2015.
Are you looking forward to an “Alice In Wonderland 2,” or would you like to see Depp take a break from acting?
