Following the news that Cory Monteith‘s death was caused by a lethal mixture of heroin and alcohol, the “Glee” actor’s longtime girlfriend Lea Michele finally released a statement about his tragic loss.
“Lea is deeply grateful for all the love and support she’s received from family, friends, and fans. Since Cory’s passing, Lea has been grieving alongside his family and making appropriate arrangements with them,” says the statement, via People. “They are supporting each other as they endure this profound loss together. We continue to ask the media to respect the privacy of Lea and Cory’s family.”
Friends and onscreen love interests since “Glee” premiered in 2009, Michele and Monteith started dating in 2012. When Monteith admitted himself to rehab earlier this year, Michele made a point to say she was standing by his side. Following his passing, her rep released a statement saying, “We ask that everyone kindly respect Lea’s privacy during this devastating time. Thank you.” Many well-wishers sent love to Michele as well as Monteith’s family on Twitter.
Monteith’s body was found in a Vancouver hotel room on July 13. He was 31.
